Safety built into every operation

Our goal is simple: to keep operators protected at every step without making their work more complicated.

At MDA Compaction, safety goes beyond meeting standards: it is an integral part of our vertical baler design. We study each operator’s task to reduce exposure to hazardous areas and make every stage of operation safer.

With this in mind, we developed several patented safety innovations that protect operators during critical tasks, including opening doors, accessing the compaction chamber, handling bales and ejecting them.

Bullpen

Patented. Better control of the bale ejection area.

The Bullpen helps secure the ejection perimeter by physically defining the hazardous area during bale ejection.

Before ejection, the operator must deploy the safety enclosure. An integrated magnetic switch permits ejection only when the Bullpen is fully lowered.

Especially useful in confined spaces or busy areas, the Bullpen helps prevent bystanders from inadvertently entering the ejection zone during operation.

Bullguard

Patented. Designed to keep the operator at a safe distance.

The Bullguard deploys automatically when the ejection door opens, keeping the operator at a distance during bale ejection.

This helps reduce the risk of a metal bale tie striking the operator if the bale shifts or expands during ejection.

Automatic protection with no additional steps.

Bullhorn

A patented design that adds mechanical protection where it matters most: beneath a raised platen.

With Bullhorn, opening the loading door automatically activates the safety mechanism. Two mechanical locks engage the platen to hold it securely in the raised position.

The result: three mechanical retention points — two Bullhorn locks and the cylinder rod.

On our low-profile models with two compaction cylinders, Bullhorn provides four retention points: two mechanical locks and two cylinder rods.

SecurePak

Category 3. Enhanced safety.

SecurePak adds a safety relay to the baler’s electrical control system to monitor safety devices and help prevent bypassing them.

This solution strengthens the integrity of the safety system by monitoring the machine’s safety functions in accordance with applicable requirements.

Category 3 safety control designed in accordance with the principles of ISO 13849-1.
